  • Overview
DialerZapper is a useful utility that prevents software from dialing out without your permission. There are many cases where you find out that your computer phoned a number and stayed online for hours, leaving you with a huge bill at the end of the month. This can happen either if you are using a dialup connection to the internet or if a malicious software uses your phone line (Dialers, Spywares). DialerZapper disconnects the line after a timeout you define, unless of course you approve the connection.

  • Using DialerZapper
Using DialerZapper is very simple; DialerZapper stays on the task bar and listens to RAS (Remote Access Service) connections - the most common is the dialup using your modem. Once a connection was made, DialerZapper will notify you about the connection and will ask you to permit it. If you don't click on the notification window (Permitting the connection), DialerZapper will disconnect the line after the default timeout (30 seconds).

  • DialerZapper Settings
To setup DialerZapper, right click on the task bar icon and choose Settings. DialerZapper let you decide on the timeout before the line will be disconnected; The default is 30 seconds, you may change it to any value you see fit.
You can make DialerZapper start every time windows start, by doing so you will not have to start it yourself. This will make the protection more effective.
DialerZapper can also write a log of the times it disconnected unauthorized connections. This is useful to know if your computer is trying to dial out when you are not around.

  • Exiting DialerZapper
If you want to quit dialerZapper, right click on the icon in the tray bar and choose Exit.

  • Important information about DialerZapper
DialerZapper can detect connections made using windows dialup services. There can be cases when a software bypasses windows services, in those cases DialerZapper is not likely to detect the connection. If you are using dialup connection to use the internet 99% percent of the software will be using windows services to access the net, so DialerZapper will be 99% effective in preventing them from accessing the internet without your permission.

  • Does DialerZapper cost anything?
    No it does not.
